Da Nang collaborates with Binance to develop blockchain technology and digital assets
On September 24, during a working session with Mr. Richard Teng, CEO of Binance (UAE), Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, expressed the desire for Binance to open its headquarters in Da Nang and cooperate closely with the Vietnam International Financial Center in launching a cryptocurrency exchange. Also attending the meeting was Mr. Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee.
At the working session, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh invited Mr. Richard Teng, the CEO of Binance and former CEO of Abu Dhabi Global Market, to serve as a Senior Advisor for the development and construction process of the Vietnam International Financial Center.
Mr. Richard Teng affirmed his readiness to share experiences, cooperate to promote the development of the cryptocurrency market in Vietnam, and also share the experience of building an International Financial Center based on the Abu Dhabi model.
Binance is the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, providing a trading platform for over 350 types of cryptocurrencies. The exchange was founded in 2017 and currently has approximately 90 million users globally, with a daily trading volume reaching $76 billion USD. Binance provides services to users in over 180 countries.

The international financial center will serve as a 'launchpad' for the digital economy
On the afternoon of September 22, the City People's Committee organized a workshop to assess the digital economy in connection with the growth targets for 2026. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu emphasized that the digital economy is the key to building Da Nang into a smart, creative, and sustainable city.
Experts believe that the goal of increasing the digital economy's share to 35-40% of GRDP by 2030 is a significant challenge but achievable if the city prioritizes key sectors, invests in digital infrastructure, and improves the legal framework and human resources. In addition, the workshop provided numerous opinions on the role of the international financial center, technology sandbox, and digital asset market in promoting the development of the digital economy.
At the event, the City People's Committee signed a cooperation agreement with Grab on digital transformation for the 2025-2030 period, and the FundGo Fund signed an agreement with the Da Nang University of Economics on training and controlled exploitation of digital assets.

Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi Meets and Works with World Vision International
On the morning of September 25th, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi met and worked with the delegation from World Vision International - Representative Office in Vietnam (WVI/VN), led by Mr. Doseba Tua Sinay.
Mr. Doseba Tua Sinay, Chief Representative of WVI/Vietnam, stated that WVI is coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to finalize the project document for "Building a corridor for the protection of marine biodiversity and fishery resources in some localities in the Central region," with a total budget of over $2.6 million USD. WVI also plans to deploy several new programs and projects in the near future.
WVI requested that the Da Nang City People's Committee continue to support and coordinate closely to ensure that the programs are implemented effectively and meet practical needs, such as: updating project locality information following the merger of communes under the new administrative units; directing the communes to continue coordinating directly with WVI; unifying the coordination mechanism; and reviewing and updating the agreements and approvals to suit the new localities.
Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, stated that in order to ensure that humanitarian activities by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and foreign partners are implemented smoothly, effectively, and without interruption after the transition to the two-level local government model, the City People's Committee has issued a directive requesting relevant departments, agencies, mass organizations, and the People's Committees of communes and wards to enhance support and create favorable conditions for NGOs to operate and implement aid in the area.
Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, proposed that relevant departments and agencies continue to coordinate closely with WVI to research and propose suitable contents, creating favorable conditions for the organization during the implementation of programs and projects in Da Nang.

Strengthen connections with the Federal Republic of Germany to develop key strategic sectors
On the afternoon of September 23, Deputy Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi received the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, Andrea Maria Sühl, during her visit and working trip to Da Nang. In the context of Da Nang’s preparation for attending the WAIFC Annual Congress and to promote investment in the International Financial Center in Frankfurt, the two sides discussed cooperation in investment, trade, human resource training, science – innovation, and cultural exchange,
To date, Germany has 28 FDI projects in Da Nang with a total capital of over USD 671 million; in the first eight months of 2025, more than 127,000 German visitors came to the city. Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi expressed her hope that the Consul General would introduce German enterprises to explore investment opportunities in the key sectors of Da Nang. Ms. Andrea Maria Sühl affirmed that she would serve as a bridge to promote cooperation, emphasizing the potential for cultural and educational exchanges, particularly in German language training and vocational labor.
On the same day, the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam – Germany Friendship Association in Da Nang organized a cultural exchange program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany. At the event, delegates highly appreciated the strong cooperation across various fields and also discussed new cooperation directions in trade, investment, education, renewable energy, and people-to-people exchanges.

Expanding investment and educational cooperation with RMIT University
On the afternoon of September 24, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan received a delegation from RMIT University Vietnam, led by Mr. Layton Pike, Vice President for International Affairs at RMIT Melbourne (Australia). The Vice Chairman expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation in education and high-quality human resource training, particularly in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence, as well as expanding the RMIT Language Center in the city.
Da Nang hopes to promote training networks, student exchanges, joint research, and also expects RMIT to support enhancing English proficiency and skills for staff, contributing to the goal of establishing an international financial center and a free trade zone.
Mr. Layton Pike affirmed that RMIT is interested in innovation, smart city development, and sustainable growth, and expressed a desire to expand its activities in Da Nang as well as to serve as a bridge for directing investment resources from Australia to Vietnam.

International Conference to Promote Financial Innovation in Biodiversity Conservation
On the morning of September 23, the city of Da Nang hosted the Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Regional Conference of the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) 2025, co-organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Vietnam. The conference was attended by Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung, along with more than 120 experts, policymakers, and government representatives from over 40 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.
Over the three-day event, the conference will discuss how to mobilize innovative resources, reform public policy, strengthen public-private partnerships, and expand international cooperation. The focus is on finding solutions to promote a new generation of green financial instruments such as green bonds, biodiversity credits, nature-based insurance, as well as blended finance mechanisms.
In Da Nang, the city has always valued and appreciated the partnership of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Through various cooperation programs, UNDP has contributed to implementing practical initiatives such as the restoration of the Cam Thanh nipa palm forest, the conservation of coral reefs in Tam Hai, the preservation of stone crabs in Cu Lao Cham, and the development of community-based ecotourism tied to conservation in Cam Thanh - Cam Kim. This partnership has not only helped the locality enhance its environmental management capacity but also supported livelihood improvements, contributing to shaping the image of a green, modern, and livable city.
