The delegation of Da Nang City visits the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations

On February 27th, the delegation of Da Nang City led by People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh visited and met with Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, in New York, USA.

 

Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh provided an overview of Da Nang's socio-economic situation in 2023 and introduced the city's economic development orientations for the future. Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh shared the three main objectives of this working trip: attracting investment and promoting cooperation in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors; exploring and attracting investment in the financial center and international seaport sectors.

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giangacknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the city government in the past period. Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang introduced the main activities of the Mission in the past and offered suggestions for cooperation and support to attract investment and cooperation between Da Nang and partners in the United States.

Regarding the semiconductor investment attraction sector, he suggested that the city focus on researching and developing the semiconductor industry towards clean energy, applying advanced technology, and being environmentally friendly. In the context where semiconductor chips and clean energy are the two hottest fields today, Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular can consider integrating the two sectors to attract investment and lay the groundwork for sustainable development in the future.

Regarding the construction of the Da Nang Financial Center, the Mission hopes to connect Da Nang with New York's financial centers, sharing insights on fostering investment and establishing the financial center. they shared the lessons learned from the New York City government in creating a favorable environment, providing infrastructure, legal frameworks, and tax reductions to attract private enterprises to invest there and establish the New York Financial Center as it is today.

Regarding the attraction of investment and development of international seaports, the Mission proposed to support the Da Nang city delegation in connecting with major port management boards in New York and New Jersey to visit and exchange experiences in port operations.

The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations committed to continuing and enhancing support for Da Nang city in the development areas that the city needs, aiming to promote comprehensive and sustainable development of the locality.

Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh expressed gratitude for the support of Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations and looks forward to ongoing collaboration.
