Strengthening cooperation between Da Nang and Australia

On the afternoon of August 4, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh chaired a meeting with the Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, Sarah Hooper.

During the meeting, Consul General Sarah Hooper expressed her admiration for Da Nang and congratulated the city on its expansion and its selection to build a Free Trade Zone and an International Financial Center. Ms. Hooper also hoped that the two sides would strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, and sustainable development.

She specifically emphasized joint training programs and student exchanges between reputable educational institutions in Australia and Da Nang. Additionally, she proposed that the city expedite the launch of a direct flight route between Da Nang and Australia.

Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh expressed his pleasure with the good development of the relationship between Vietnam and Australia, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024 during the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Australia.

Mr. Minh hoped that the Consul General of Australia would continue to show interest and introduce potential Australian investors and partners to explore opportunities for cooperation, investment, and business in Da Nang in areas such as the Free Trade Zone and the International Financial Center. Additionally, he hoped to promote cooperation in education and high-quality human resource training, especially in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

He also suggested strengthening joint training programs, student exchange programs, transfer programs, and joint research between Da Nang's higher education institutions and prestigious schools in Australia.
