Cooperating with WWF to develop carbon credits, digital transformation in biodiversity conservation
On the afternoon of November 12, City People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi chaired a meeting with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), led by Mr. Martin Kabaluapa Kapinga, General Director of WWF Office Management, during his visit and work in Da Nang.
At the meeting, City People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi informed that, to ensure international aid and cooperation activities are continuously and effectively deployed following the administrative unit merger, the City People's Committee has directed departments, agencies, and local authorities to enhance coordination and support for the activities of foreign non-governmental organizations, including WWF. The Department of Finance has issued guidelines on transitioning and managing programs and projects in accordance with the Government's regulations in Decree No. 80/2020/ND-CP (Decree on the management and use of non-refundable aid not part of official development assistance from foreign agencies, organizations, and individuals for Vietnam).
Currently, WWF is coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to develop the Project on forest restoration and livelihood development in the former Quang Nam area, with a total capital of over 8.1 million USD, and is expected to fund many new programs in the near future.
The City People's Committee Vice Chairwoman expressed her desire for WWF to continue accompanying and supporting the city in the following areas: developing the Strategy and Action Plan on biodiversity, establishing financial mechanisms for conservation, managing natural heritage and wetlands. Forest restoration, carbon credit development, improving management capacity and reducing emissions. Applying science - technology and digital transformation in resource management and biodiversity conservation. Training, research, and data sharing on natural resource management.
On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Martin Kabaluapa Kapinga, General Director of WWF Office Management, stated that the merger of the province/city opens up many cooperation opportunities between WWF and Da Nang. WWF desires and is committed to continuing cooperation with Da Nang to implement activities related to forest protection and restoration, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of nature conservation work in the locality.
On this occasion, WWF provided 40,000 USD to support Da Nang in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

Many exciting activities at Kanagawa Festival 2025
On the morning of November 13, a delegation from Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan), led by Governor Kuroiwa Yuji, visited Đà Nẵng City to pay a courtesy call to the city leadership.
Deputy Chairman of the Đà Nẵng City People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung, stated that Japan is currently a major investor in Đà Nẵng with nearly 280 projects totaling over 1.2 billion USD; the two-way trade turnover exceeds 1 billion USD per year; at the same time Japan is also a key tourism market.
Deputy Chairman Tran Nam Hung expressed the hope to continue expanding cooperation with Kanagawa in industry, logistics, science and technology, education, and culture, contributing to the strengthening and deepening of the friendly relationship between Đà Nẵng and Kanagawa Prefecture.
Governor Kuroiwa Yuji also expressed his concern regarding the damage caused by natural disasters in Đà Nẵng and affirmed that Kanagawa will continue to support and promote specific cooperation programs in the near future.
On the same afternoon, the Đà Nẵng Department of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with Kanagawa Prefecture, organized the Kanagawa Festival 2025, attended by Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi. This event aims to promote culture, education, study abroad opportunities, and employment prospects in Kanagawa. Promoting cooperation with the Netherlands across multiple potential sectors
On the afternoon of November 14, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Nam Hưng received and held a working session with Ms. Raissa Anais Marteaux, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vice Chairman Trần Nam Hưng expressed hope that the Consul General would continue to serve as a bridge to promote cooperative relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands, particularly between Đà Nẵng and Dutch localities and businesses.
The city aims to strengthen practical cooperation with the Netherlands in fields such as sustainable infrastructure development, high technology, innovation, tourism, logistics, and smart city development. City leaders hold a working session with Van Oord Group (Netherlands)
On the morning of November 14, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Lê Quang Nam received and held a working session with representatives of Van Oord Group (Netherlands), with the participation of leaders from relevant departments and agencies.
Mr. Michiel van der Ruijt, Regional Director of Van Oord, provided an overview of the group and projects already implemented in Vietnam. Van Oord has strengths in marine construction, offering climate adaptation solutions and upgrading coastal infrastructure. The company expressed its desire to cooperate with Đà Nẵng in the fields of seaport development, land reclamation, with particular interest in the Lien Chieu Port project, river mouth dredging, and research on artificial island city models.
Deputy Chairman of the City People's Committee Lê Quang Nam, highly appreciated Van Oord's capabilities and introduced the development potential of Đà Nẵng, especially the Free Trade Zone model, the International Financial Center, and the special programs currently under study. At the same time, he provided information on the planning situation of the Liên Chiểu Port Area.
Đà Nẵng is interested in land reclamation options but requires full assessment of environmental impacts, biodiversity, and technical standards. The city requested Van Oord to share additional solutions for climate change adaptation, given that Đà Nẵng is significantly affected by rising sea levels; and assigned relevant departments and agencies to continue coordinating and expanding cooperation opportunities with Van Oord.

On the afternoon of November 13, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Đà Nẵng officially inaugurated, marking a new milestone in the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Poland, as well as between Đà Nẵng and Polish partners.

On the morning of November 14, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in coordination with Delivering Asia Company, organized the seminar "Promoting and Marketing Đà Nẵng Tourism in the New Era – Positioning an International Destination." This forum serves as a platform for experts and businesses to share global tourism trends for 2026, promotional experiences from destinations in the region, and to discuss strategies for positioning Đà Nẵng's image, competitive advantages, and communication solutions in the new phase.
Vice Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi introduced the potentials and advantages of Đà Nẵng and expressed the hope that state management agencies, corporations, tourism enterprises, and the community of tourism and media professionals would provide diverse perspectives. This would give Đà Nẵng additional foundations and useful ideas to develop strategies and plans for promoting and marketing the city's image as a destination in the coming period.
At the workshop, experts and businesses exchanged and shared insights on global tourism trends for 2026, along with new perspectives on tourism in Vietnam and Đà Nẵng. The event provided experience in promotion and marketing from destinations within the region.
