Strengthening Cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany

On November 3rd, Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, hosted a reception for Ms. E. Helga Margarete Barth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam.

Chairman Pham Duc An expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Ambassador, affirming that the relationship between Vietnam and Germany has developed positively over the past half-century. Da Nang currently has cooperation relations with a few German localities and plans to sign an official cooperation agreement in 2026. The city has attracted over $11 billion USD in foreign investment capital, including 28 German enterprises with a total capital of over $700 million USD.

The city's leadership expressed a desire to expand cooperation with Germany in areas such as services, tourism, high-tech, innovation, and logistics, which aligns with the goal of Da Nang becoming a financial and free trade center for Central Vietnam.

Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth praised Da Nang's development potential and noted that many German businesses are interested in investing in the area. She also proposed establishing a German consular section or honorary consulate in Da Nang to support German citizens and businesses. The Ambassador stated she was impressed with the city’s planning, development speed, and potential for cooperation
