Promoting female scientists’ contributions in climate change adaptation and sustainable development

On the morning of December 16, the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR) organized the launch ceremony for the project "Promoting the active participation of female scientists in climate change adaptation and community-based disaster risk management" and the debut of the Network of Women Scientists in STEM for Climate, Community Development, and Gender Equality (ViWISTEM4C) in Da Nang.  

 

The project is funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) of the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam, aiming to build and develop a network of women scientists in STEM for climate, community development, and gender equality; strengthen the role and voice of female STEM scientists in climate response and disaster risk management; and enhance the response capacity of communities, especially women, through community-based disaster risk management models, as well as connect scientists - government - communities to jointly build disaster risk management solutions.

At the program, the Network of Women Scientists in STEM for Climate, Community Development, and Gender Equality (ViWISTEM4C) was officially launched with the participation of typical female scientists, marking the beginning of an interdisciplinary connection space where female scientists can share knowledge, support research, promote innovation, and accompany the community in responding to climate change.

he ViWISTEM4C Network is expected to become a platform for connecting knowledge, promoting climate initiatives, and spreading the role of women in building sustainable communities.
