On the evening of December 30, at the East Bank Park of the Dragon Bridge, the Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 officially opened. This event marks the beginning of a vibrant series of cultural, artistic, tourism, and entertainment activities serving residents and tourists during the year-end season.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, along with representatives from various departments, sectors, businesses, and a large number of locals and visitors. During her speech, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that Da Nang views culture as its spiritual foundation and tourism as a spearhead economic sector. She stated that events and festivals act as a vital "boost" to increase destination attractiveness, stimulate consumption, and promote socio-economic development.
The Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 takes place over five days, from December 30, 2025, to January 3, 2026, featuring a diverse series of activities at various locations across the city. A highlight of the opening ceremony was the exceptional artistic performances featuring international artists from the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area along with a team of local artists and dancers. These performances combined modern sound, lighting, and stage effects to create a festive atmosphere bursting with emotion.
As part of the festival, on the evening of the same day, the "Cheer Fest – Connecting Joy" culinary space officially opened at the East Bank Park of the Dragon Bridge, becoming a major attraction for many residents and tourists. Taking place from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily throughout the festival, Cheer Fest offers a multi-dimensional experience with dozens of stalls featuring local, regional, and international cuisine, beverage areas, handicraft and souvenir shopping, and trending experiential activities.

Đà Nẵng welcomes the first visitors of 2026, spreading the vitality of the new city
On the morning of January 1, Đà Nẵng city erupted with a series of events welcoming the first visitors at Đà Nẵng International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, the ancient town of Hội An, and the special national heritage site of the Marble Mountains.
At Đà Nẵng International Airport, flight VN157 from Hanoi carried the first three guests to 'ring in the New Year,' followed by a flight from Manila with five lucky passengers. Within the morning alone, approximately 1,200 tourists from seven countries (South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, etc.) landed, creating a lively atmosphere with the message 'Welcome to Đà Nẵng.'
Chu Lai Airport received the first two flights of the year, VJ1370 from Hồ Chí Minh City and VN1641 from Hanoi, with three lucky passengers receiving round-trip domestic tickets from Vietnam Airlines, local specialty gifts, and Đà Nẵng tourism experience vouchers. All passengers on the two flights received souvenirs, vouchers, and participated in check-ins to capture the first moments of the year.
At the local heritage sites, 29 Filipino tourists kicked off their journey touring Hoi An. The famous Marble Mountains also welcomed a group of Japanese visitors with wishes for success. Looking back at 2025, the Marble Mountains received nearly 2.2 million visitors, including over 1.5 million international tourists, creating a positive momentum for the upcoming year.

The 21st Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange, Da Nang 2025
Taking place over three days from December 26 to 28, the series of activities for the 21st Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange, Da Nang 2025, left a lasting impression on residents and tourists alike.
The activities throughout the festival created a vibrant atmosphere, highlighting the cultural intersection between Vietnam and Japan. This contributed to promoting the image of Da Nang and Hoi An as cultural and historical destinations rich in identity.
A major highlight was the Futon Daiko ceremony—the largest palanquin procession from Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture (Japan)—which officially appeared in Hoi An for the first time. The procession moved through the streets around the Pagoda Bridge area to the lively sound of Taiko drums and powerful cheers, attracting a large crowd of onlookers.
The event also reenacted the wedding procession of Princess Ngoc Hoa (daughter of Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen) and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro, recalling the friendship between Vietnam and Japan since the early 17th century. The festival space was further energized by street art exchanges, Taiko drum performances, calligraphy demonstrations, Japanese tea ceremonies, and a Cosplay competition.
Alongside the main events, several cultural experience programs were held throughout the festival such as: Vietnam – Japan Bonsai exchange; "Ancient Japanese Marks" tours; photo exhibitions; "Hizen Ceramics – Patterns that Tell Stories"; tourism promotion, cuisine, souvenirs, and Japanese manga stalls.

With its outstanding cultural values, scenic landscapes, ecological environment, and strong community cohesion, Thanh Hà Pottery Village was honored, opening new prospects for sustainable development. In 2025, the village welcomed over 251,000 visitors, including more than 224,000 international tourists, affirming the growing appeal of this craft village on the cultural and community tourism map.
Additionally, the "Field Plowing Festival" of 2026 was vibrantly held at An Mỹ Vegetable Village (Hội An Đông Ward) on the morning of January 4, marking the beginning of the Winter-Spring production season and vividly recreating the traditional agricultural setting.
