As part of the second Vietnam-Thailand People's Friendship Festival in Da Nang, on September 11, the 12th meeting between the Executive Committee of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, the Central President of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, and Sanan Angubolkul, the President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association. The conference was attended by Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanhstated that the 12th joint meeting holds significant importance as it takes place within a series of events that the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association are conducting in 2023 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the two countries establishing their strategic partnership (2013-2023).
"As the first joint meeting held after the 5th Congress of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, the 12th meeting provides an opportunity for us to assess the results achieved over the past year, learn from experiences, and exchange ideas. It will also help us agree on the tasks for the remainder of 2023 and 2024. This conference marks a new chapter in the activities of the Friendship Associations and lays a solid foundation for the 2022-2027 term," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh.

According to the report, following the 5th Congress of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association in December 2022, both Friendship Associations have strengthened coordination and cooperation with the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association through various activities. These activities include the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between twin provinces, Thai Nguyen and Udon Thani, aimed at promoting cooperation between the two provinces, exchanging local products such as Vietnamese OCOP and Thai OTOP, promoting tourism, and fostering exchanges among young entrepreneurs. Additionally, they organized a Vietnamese business delegation's visit to and cooperation with the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association and participation in the Thailand-Vietnam Business Forum in August 2023.
In the field of education, both Friendship Associations have been committed to promoting exchanges and connections between universities, student and teacher exchanges between the two countries. One notable achievement is the signing of a cooperation memorandum (MOU) between FPT University and Khon Kaen University, Chulalongkorn University, and King Mongkut University of Technology. According to the MOU, the parties agreed to collaborate on student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and the organization of training programs, workshops, and seminars. They also continued the program of sending students from disadvantaged regions of Vietnam to study at the Bamboo School.According to Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, building on these achievements, in the coming time, the two Friendship Associations will continue to closely cooperate and promote practical and effective activities for the people of both countries. This will include enhancing people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as education, social issues, technology transfer, startup support, real estate investment, tourism, and food products.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Deputy Permanent Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, stated that Vietnam and Thailand are neighboring countries with a long-standing diplomatic relationship. With their close geographical proximity, similar customs, traditions, and foreign policies, both countries have favorable conditions for developing bilateral, multilateral, and regional relationships. Over the past 10 years as strategic partners (2013 - 2023), Vietnam-Thailand friendly relations and cooperation have made significant progress in politics, economics, diplomacy, culture, and defense and security.
As of early 2023, Da Nang had 13 effective FDI projects from Thailand with a total investment of approximately USD 60 million, focusing on trade, retail, manufacturing, textiles, design, and construction. The city has signed memorandums of understanding and maintains regular friendly relations and cooperation with several Thai provinces and cities, including Khon Kaen, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Phuket, and Chiang Mai.
Additionally, people-to-people exchanges and student exchanges between Vietnam and Thailand in Da Nang, organized by the associations, the Da Nang Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, Da Nang University, and member schools of Da Nang University, have also contributed to strengthening the friendship between the people of Da Nang and people from various localities in Thailand.
