On the afternoon of February 22, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh held a meeting with South African Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam Vuyiswa Tulelo On her first visit to Da Nang. Mr. Minh gave a warm welcome and an overview of the strategic location, socioeconomic situation, and development orientation of Da Nang.
Through this visit, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh wished that Ms. Vuyiswa Tulelo will help make connections and create conditions for Da Nang to establish cooperative relations with South African localities and to call on South African investors to explore investment opportunities in Da Nang as well as open tourism opportunities between South Africa and Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular.
Ms. Vuyiswa Tulelo thanked the city leaders for their warm and respectful welcome. At the same time, she expressed that the infrastructure, peaceful atmosphere, and vibrant economic development of Da Nang made a strong impression on her.

Ms. Tulelo stated that the purpose of her visit was to strengthen and enhance the relationship between South Africa and Da Nang City. 2023 marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and South Africa (December 22, 1993 – December 22, 2023) in which the Embassy will organize several activities to affirm the relations between the two countries. The Ambassador emphasized that South Africa always attaches importance to the position and role of Da Nang within Viet Nam, which is why Da Nang was the locality chosen for the first activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Ms. Vuyiswa Tulelo wished that South Africa and Da Nang would first develop cultural and people-to-people exchanges, thereby strengthening economic ties between the two countries. She also expected that the two sides would continue to conduct more exchange and cooperation activities to strengthen and consolidate the relationship.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee agreed that the two sides will focus on developing cooperation in the promotion of tourism and cultural and people-to-people exchanges, then expand investment and business activities.
Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh also agreed to organize a series of activities in Da Nang to celebrate the two countries' diplomatic relations. The Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs was assigned to be the focal point to coordinate with the Embassy to prepare for the events.
