On the morning of January 23rd (the second day of the Lunar New Year) the Department of Tourism, in collaboration with Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company, held a ceremony to welcome the international cruise ship Silver Spirit to Tien Sa Port. This was the first cruise ship to visit Da Nang in the Year of the Cat 2023.
The first cruise ship to dock at Tien Sa Port in the new year, Silver Spirit is operated by Silversea Cruises and brought more than 500 tourists to Da Nang. At the ceremony, visitors were welcomed with a lion dance and presented with flowers and souvenirs from the Da Nang Department of Tourism. The Silver Spirit passengers had one day to visit Da Nang’s unique destinations such as the Marble Mountains, Linh Ung Pagoda, and the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.

The last time the Silver Spirit docked at Tien Sa Port was February 18, 2020, when nearly 200 European tourists visited destinations and scenic spots in Da Nang and Hoi An. Silver Spirit is a luxury cruise ship operated by Silversea Cruises, a privately owned Italian yacht company. The ship was built in 2009 and in 2018 it was refurbished for luxury tourism with high-class amenities. The current capacity of the ship is 608 passengers.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Da Nang welcomed 101 cruise ships in 2019. In the future, the tourism industry will continue to promote cruise ship tourism as it is an important source of international tourists for Da Nang.
