Welcoming international passengers for Lunar New Year

On the morning of January 22nd (the first day of the Lunar New Year) the Department of Tourism cooperated with the Central Airport Authority, Da Nang International Airport, and Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company to welcome the first international passengers arriving in Da Nang on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Cat 2023.

Flight VZ964 carrying about 100 passengers from Bangkok (Thailand) landed in Da Nang at 09:10 on January 22nd. At the welcome ceremony a performance of a lion dance welcomed visitors. Additionally there was a lucky draw "Spring leaves picking" with vouchers for attractions, restaurants, and specialty gifts offered by Sun World BaNa Hills, Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, Ao Dai Show Da Nang, and other local gifts for visitors during their time in Da Nang.

According to the airlines, during the Lunar New Year holiday from January 20-26 the total number of flights to Da Nang is estimated to be 768 carrying more than 98,000 passengers.


Welcoming international passengers arriving in Da Nang on the Lunar New Year of the Cat 2023

Of those, domestic routes account for 444 flights carrying nearly 57,000 passengers with an average frequency of 64 flights per day. In particular, the highest frequency is on January 21 and January 24 with 67 flights.

For international arrivals, there are 324 flights carrying more than 42,000 passengers with an average frequency of 46 flights per day. In particular, the highest frequency is on January 20 (New Year's Day) and January 22 (first day of the Lunar New Year) with 48 flights. On January 22 alone there were 48 flights to Da Nang carrying about 6000 passengers.

During the Lunar New Year 2023, Da Nang will organize many activities for residents and tourists such as the display "Da Nang in Tet - Past and Present" at the APEC Park and along the Han River.

In addition, there will be 8 locations with special flower decorations for the Lunar New Year including: the city administrative center on Thanh Dien Hai Street; 42 Bach Dang (in front of the T-bridge); 72 Bach Dang; the square at the tail of the Dragon Bridge; 12 Tran Phu; 32 Bach Dang; 23 Tran Phu; and the square at the head of Dragon Bridge. Art performances will be conducted at APEC Park, Labor Culture House, Dragon Bridge – East Park, Museum of Cham Sculpture, and Da Nang Museum.

Additionally, many activities such as Street Dance, Tet Fair, and Bai Choi Festival will take place throughout the Lunar New Year of the Cat 2023.
