In the morning of January 12th, the General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, President of the Japan–Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro had a meeting with Vietnamese news agencies and newspapers in Da Nang City.

At the press conference, the General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and President of the Japan –Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro said that Japan is a country with a tradition of respecting and loving lotus flowers. In Japan, there are many types of beautiful lotuses, including those originating thousands of years ago. Mr. Nikai Toshihiro expressed his happiness knowing that the lotus is the national flower of Viet Nam. According to him, there is similarity in the culture of Viet Nam and Japan, the similarity in appreciating flowers with strong vitality and full of purity. Mr. Nikai Toshihiro hoped that Viet Nam and Japan would work together, build a research base on the lotus, and increase exchanges and cooperation because the lotus is a symbol of peace.

Mr. Nikai Toshihiro emphasized that Viet Nam and Japan had good cooperation relations in many fields. He hoped that both countries would continue to strengthen their relations, exchanges, and cooperation.

Answering the question of Reporter My Phuong (National Assembly Television) on the work of the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Union on the relationship between the two countries in the near future, Mr. Nikai Toshihiro said that Viet Nam was a young country with strong development potential. He hoped that the youth of the two countries would strengthen and promote exchange and cooperation activities to develop and contribute to building world peace. Mr. Nikai Toshihiro affirmed that Japan was ready to cooperate with Viet Nam. In Japan, everyone knows the country's special affection for the people and nation of Viet Nam. Therefore, he believed that the relationship between the two countries would continue to develop positively.

Reporter Tung Lam (Viet Nam Television) asked a question about the meaning of this exchange program in the context of Viet Nam-Japan relations developing well in all aspects. Answering to Reporter Tung Lam, Mr. Nikai Toshihiro said that the relationship between Viet Nam and Japan had been very good. He said that both countries needed to strengthen connectivity, especially connecting the younger generations of the two countries. Mr. Nikai Toshihiro further informed that this Japanese delegation to Viet Nam included 20 high school students coming to Viet Nam to exchange culture and learn about Viet Nam. 

At the end of the meeting with the Vietnamese press, the General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, the President of the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro, hoped that both countries would have more exchange activities, especially with many Vietnamese students coming to Japan to study. Besides, Mr. Nikai Toshihiro hoped that the Vietnamese press would visit Japan more often to learn more about the culture, thereby, promoting Japanese culture to the majority of Vietnamese people.
