Viet Nam and Japan signed 12 documents/Memoranda of Cooperation

During the visit to Viet Nam by the Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, President of the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro, in the afternoon of January 12th, in Hoi An (Quang Nam), Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed and worked with Mr. Nikai Toshihiro and the delegation of Japanese economy, culture, and tourism exchanges.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed Mr. Nikai Toshihiro, a close friend of the Vietnamese people, and the delegation of Japanese economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges to visit Viet Nam. The Prime Minister affirmed that the Government and localities of Viet Nam attached great importance to economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Rich exchange and cooperation activities which have been organized such as seminars and forums on economic cooperation, labor, tourism, Viet Nam - Japan Local Leadership Conference, etc. vividly show the strong development of the extensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Japan. ​

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that the relationship between the two countries in recent years has developed dramatically, comprehensively and deeply with the framework of the "Extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia" established in 2014. In particular, Viet Nam always considers Japan to be a leading, reliable, and life-long partner.


Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Nikai Toshihiro witnessed the signing and exchange of 12 documents/Memoranda of Cooperation between ministries, branches, localities, and businesses of the two countries.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the valuable contributions of the Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, the President of the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro and the MPs in the Union for Viet Nam - Japan relations. At the same time, he expressed his desire to promote the exchange between the Vietnamese and Japanese parliamentarians and local cooperation to further strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, especially the younger generation.

Mr. Nikai Toshihiro expressed his pleasure to visit Viet Nam in the early days of 2020. He said that the organization of the delegation with the largest scale ever with more than 1,000 delegates and diverse members from the National Assembly, Representatives of ministries, sectors, leaders of localities, businesses, and people of Japan showed high interest and consensus within Japan from the National Assembly, Government, localities, enterprises, and people for strengthening and deepening friendly and cooperative relations with Viet Nam. The General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Nikai Toshihiro proposed to invite 150 Vietnamese students to exchange in Japan in the next five years. ​


Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his desire to promote the exchange of Vietnamese and Japanese parliamentarians and local cooperation to further strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, especially the younger generation.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to promote exchanges and contacts between leaders of all levels, especially high-levels, localities, and people more often, and to continue to promote investment cooperation, trade, labor, tourism, etc. Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation on multilateral forums as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern, in the context of Viet Nam being the Coordinator of ASEAN-Japan relations in the period of 2018-2021, Chairman of ASEAN 2020, and Non-permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term. ​
