Delivering an opening speech for the program, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha – Chairwoman of the City Women’s Union stated that, with the targets of building a “4-safety city”, aiming at a city “Safe and friendly for women and young girls”, during the past few years, the City of Da Nang organized many action programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of self-protection and self-prevention regarding abuse of women and children; knowledge and skills of prevention of sexual abuse and violence for women and young girls in families. The City’s Women’s Union’s levels strengthened law education and dissemination on gender equality and violence prevention on the basis of gender; and, organized many programs on skill education for students, and multiplied the club model of “Men act first in violence prevention for women and young girls”. 

A parade for the “Action Month for gender equality and violence prevention on the basis of gender”, and the Year of “Safety for women and children”

With the theme of “Ending violence for women and children”, The Action Month for gender equality and violence prevention on the basis of gender this year took place between 15^th November and 15^th December. The City will enhance the implementation of communication activities to raise public awareness on gender equality and violence prevention on the basis of gender.

Dance sport group performance

The dance sport group performance and parade were events which especially encouraged women officials, Union members and the people to raise the spirit with sports and health training. This was a highlight in the gender equality affairs throughout the year, peaking and generating a communication campaign to strengthen the activities for gender equality and violence prevention on the basis of gender in the city. The program mobilized organizations and individuals in violence on the basis of gender prevention, aiming at effectively implementing the target for the equality and development of women.
