A press conference was held to declare the 99% completion of Package 1A (the northern entrance) of the Hai Van Pass tunnel contracted by the Hazama - Cienco 6 Joint Construction Unit. 3,857m of the main tunnel; 3,857m of the sub-tunnel; and 1.912m of ventilated, electrostatic and cross tunnels and sidetracks have been finished with 530,000m3 of excavation and filling.

More than 100 dishes provided by 11 tourist units in the city centre were an original feature of rural Vietnam's culinary culture at the Danang Tourism and Culture Festival 2004. Along with specialities of the Quang people including Quang noodles, jellyfish mixture, "quai vac" cakes and "Hoi An cao lau", there were different dishes from Hue and Northern Vietnam.

The festival was held from July 23 to August 1 with lots of activities. Most of attractive activities took place in the evening of July 31 when the festival was organised on Bach Dang Street near the stunning Han River.

A musical performance "The Call of Sea" with the participation of national music stars takes place on July 29 at the Ben Thanh - Non Nuoc Tourist Zone in Hoa Hai Ward of Ngu Hanh Son District. The zone has just been opened after nearly two years of upgrade. This is one of the main activities of Danang Tourism - Culture Festival. Visitors can enjoy it free of charge.

The Danang Tourism - Culture Festival 2004 - the first largest festival ever held in Danang  is expected to be an impressive, novel and attractive tourist event for tourists and local people.
