The Danang Representative Office in Japan was established under Decision No.155/QĐ-UB dated 14 September 2004 by the Danang People's Committee. It aims to strengthen cooperative relations between Danang and Japanese localities in investment, trade, tourism, human resource development, cultural exchanges and other fields.

Functions and duties

1. Main duties

- To publicise Danang's image and socio-economic potentials, and to carry out activities to strengthen economic and foreign affairs relations between Danang and Japanese localities and organisations.

- To study, explore and provide information about the Japanese market, including policies, laws, business customs, goods import-export demands, investment, labor and taste of Japanese tourists. To forecast possibilities of the Japanese market, to check and provide information about legal status and operation capacities of Japanese organisations, unions and enterprises at the city authorities' requests.

- To speed up promotion activities in trade, investment, tourism and labor export between Danang and Japanese organisations, enterprises and localities according to the city's approved plans.

 

2. Specific duties

a. Trade promotion

- To present and publicise products and goods, publications and potentials of Danang-based enterprises to Japanese partners.

- To support Danang enterprises in organising and participating in fairs, exhibitions, conferences and market surveys in Japan.

- To support enterprises in the negotiation and signing of contracts for business, cooperation, goods transaction and supply with foreign partners. To study and coordinate with Japanese companies to export domestic products to the Japanese market.

 

b. Investment promotion

- To present Danang's projects calling for investment.

- To publicise the city's potential for foreign investment attraction.

- To present Vietnam’s policies and investment environment and Danang's specific mechanism for foreign investment attraction.

- To do research into Japan's investment environment and policies to give advice to domestic enterprises wanting to invest in Japan.

- To do research into potentials and investment expectations of Japanese enterprises and offer advice to Japanese companies investing in Danang.

 

c. Tourism promotion

- To present the history, culture, famous sights, tourist routes, attractions, products and services of Danang and its neighboring localities and other necessary information. To study and provide the Danang tourism sector with information about demands and tastes of Japanese tourists to exploit and cooperate in tourism development.

- To work with domestic travel companies to organise Japanese tours to Vietnam and vice versa.

- To provide consultancy for foreigners coming to Vietnam.

- To support the tourism sector to organise promotion activities in Japan.

 

d. Labor export promotion

- To publicise the human resources of Vietnam in general and Danang in particular, as well as Vietnam’s policies and guidelines on labour and expert export.

- To provide information about labor demands in Japan to Danang-based enterprises specialising in labor export. To introduce Danang’s labour market and export enterprises to Japanese partners.

- To counsel the city's authorities and Danang's labor export enterprises in negotiating and signing necessary documents with labour receivers to facilitate cooperation in the field.

- To assist Danang's enterprises in promoting labor export in accordance with Vietnamese laws. To seek and explore labor contracts.

 

e. In coordination with enterprises and Vietnamese representative offices in Japan to protect rights of Vietnamese enterprises and workers in Japan on the basis of Vietnamese and Japanese laws and in line with general international rules.
