On 22 July the fourth National Festival of Sports and Arts for People with Disabilities, opened in Da Nang with the participation of more than 800 disabled athletes and artists in 26 teams from cities and provinces nationwide. Senior officials of Da Nang and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Yoon Seok Yong, President of the Republic of Korea’s Paralympic Committee were present at the event.
The athletes competed in seven sports events, including track and field, swimming, badminton, table tennis, weightlifting and chess. Artists took part in such categories as solo, duet, group and concert singing, instrumental solo, and dance.
The four-day competition themed “Solidarity-Integration-Equality-Humanity” was a good opportunity for selecting Vietnam’s disabled athletes of excellence for participation in the 10th Asian Para Games to be held in Guangzhou, China, in December this year.
