The gold medal went to Nguyen Ngoc Trung, a 12th grade student from Phu Tho province, who gained 28 points in the competition. Pham Viet Cuong and Nguyen Kieu Hieu, 12th grade students of Da Nang’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students, Tran Thai Hung and Vu Dinh Long, 11th grade students from Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi all won silver. Nguyen Minh Hieu, 12th grade student from Hanoi National University’s High School for Gifted Students was awarded with a bronze medal.
With this achievement, Vietnam continues to be one of the teams with high results at the International Mathematic Olympiad. The IMO is held annually and attracts high-school students from about 100 countries worldwide.
