A Memorandum of Understanding on Promotion of  Foreign Economic Relations was signed by the Mr. Nguyen Di Nien, Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Huynh Nam, Chairman of the Danang People's Committee, on 15 December in Danang City. The MOU is a part of the policy “Foreign affairs for economic development” of the Vietnamese government.

This is the third MOU signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the localities. The MOU aims to promote the efficiency in implementing the policy “Foreign affairs for economic development” of the ministry and the Vietnamese representative agencies overseas to promote the Danang foreign economic relations and the comprehensive cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese representative agencies overseas and the Danang People's Committee. 

Firstly, a two-way information exchange will be enhanced, mainly in economic consultancy and foreign partners verification. In addition, the ministry will support the city in such fields as: international cooperation (establishing, expanding and strengthening cooperative relationships with foreign localities, organizing foreign relation activities, training staff in charge of foreign affairs etc.); calling for foreign direct investment (FDI) and official development aid (ODA) (promoting the Danang image globally, providing the city with information about foreign investors’ needs, organizing activities to promote and call for FDI, ODA etc.); trade promotion (introducing the city export items, consulting in establishing the city overseas representative offices etc.); and tourism and labour export etc.

At the ceremony, the chairman expressed his pleasure at the great interest of the Vietnamese Communist Party and the Government in general, and the Foreign Ministry in particular to the city and committed to facilitating cooperation between the diplomatic missions and the city for the best benefits.
