The city successfully held the Danang International Fireworks Competition 2008 (DIFC 2008) last year and this international cultural event was recognized as a record in Vietnam. Although being held for the first in Vietnam, DIFC 2008 received consideration and support in many aspects from many domestic and international enterprises. We can affirm that this sponsorship made a great contribution to the resounding success of the first DIFC. On this occasion, we would like to send you the deep gratitude of Danang’s people for your valuable contribution to DIFC 2008.

On the exciting atmosphere to welcome the 2007 New Year and the Dinh Hoi Tet holiday, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front of Danang City would like to extend the deepest feelings and warm congratulations to all the city’s citizens, officials and military personnel.

The Vietnamese Government gave VND50bil for central Vietnam localities on 2 October to overcome some of the difficulties caused by Xangsane typhoon. Of this, Danang received VND20bil, Quang Nam VND10bil, Thua Thien-Hue VND10bil, Quang Ngai VND5bil, Quang Tri VND3bil and Kontum VND2bil. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed a Decision to supply 1,500 tons of rice from the National Reserve for Thua Thien- Hue (500 tons), Danang (500 tons) and Quang Nam (500 tons).
