1. Relationship with Chinese cities
1.1. Jiangsu Province
In October 1999, at the invitation of the Mayor of Jiangsu Province, the Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee led a delegation to attend the Asian Leaders Conference held in Nan Jin (Jiangsu Province). In this visit, the chairman signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a relationship between Danang and Jiangsu, and visited some cities and important manufacturing establishments of Jiangsu Province.
In December 1999, a representative delegation of Zung Len corporation, Jiangsu Province, paid a working visit to Danang to survey the market and create business relationships with Danang City enterprises. The delegation had a meeting with the Food and Agricultural Products Export Import Company and Automobile Engineering Company, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Danang Export Import Company for trade exchange to manufacture motorbikes and air-conditioners.
1.2. Shangdong Province - Quingdao City
The former Quangnam – Danang Province established relationships with Shangdong Province in 1994. Since Danang has become a centrally-governed city, leaders of the two provinces have paid much attention to this friendship relation.
In March 1998, a delegation of Shangdong Province Foreign Affairs Department paid a working visit to Danang. During this visit, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding to continue to maintain and develop relationships between the two localities, signed on 4th March 1998.
In December 1999, a delegation of Shangdong Province led by Mr. Wang Zho Ho, Director of Shangdong Province Trade Association had a working visit to Danang City. During this visit, the delegation held a seminar with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Danang and other enterprises in the city. The enterprises in the delegation showed much interest in such fields as fertilizer, science and technology.
In April 2000, a delegation from Danang City led by Mr. Phan Nhu Lam, Permanent Vice-chairman of the City Party Committee cum Chairman of the City People’s Council visited Shangdong. The two sides exchanged experiences in the personnel and organization mechanism of the People’s Council. The delegation also visited Quingdao City - a city governed by Shangdong and exchanged experiences in the personnel and organization mechanism of the People’s Council.
In June 2000, a Quingdao City delegation led by Mr. Zu Zhang Sha, Vice-chairman of the City People’s Council made a working visit to Danang to strengthen the cooperative relationship, foster cooperation in the economy, and trade exchange and discuss the establishment of cooperative relationships between the two localities.
In May 2001, a delegation of Danang City led by Mr. Phan Dien, Politburo Member and Chairman of the City Party Committee visited Shangdong. During this visit, the delegation made a working visit to Quingdao City. The Chairman suggested the HAIER Group survey the Vietnamese market and invest in Danang to expand their production and consumption.
In December 2001, a delegation of the Shangdong Friendship People Foreign Relations Association led by Mr. Lumao Zeng made a working visit to Danang to for exchange and to foster understanding and cultural and economic cooperation. During this visit the delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Friendship Organizations Association of Danang City.
In April 2002, a Shangdong business delegation came on a working visit to Danang to study the investment environment and with an intent to invest in such fields as textiles and household electricity.
2. Relationship with Chinese organizations
Danang University has a relationship with the Guangxi Teachers Training Institute – China. Every year, many students from the Chinese Department - Danang University study and practice language at Guangxi Teachers Training Institute.
The Literature and Arts Association of Danang City has a relationship with the National Literature and Arts Association of Guangxi. In June 1999, artists of the Literature and Arts Association of Danang City visited and exchanged culture with the National Literature and Arts Association of Guangxi.
