1. Friendship cooperation

At present, Danang has relationships with five cities and provinces in Japan: Kawasaki City, Iwaki City, Shozuoka City, Kagoshima Prefecture and Okinawa Prefecture.

Danang Port signed a friendship cooperation memorandum with Kawasaki Port in January 1994. So far, both sides have exchanged experts, trained personnel and exchanged annual visits.

In addition, Danang has exchanges with Japanese organizations and associations through the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association, the City United Youth Association, the Peace Ship and the Kawasaki International Exchange Association.

2. Relationship with other Japanese cities

2.1. Iwaki City
In 1996, a delegation led by Iwaki mayor had a working visit to Danang to foster understanding between the two cities.
In July 1996, a delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee (belonging to Quang Nam – Danang Province) visited Iwaki City to establish a cooperative relationship between the two cities.

2.2. Kagoshima Prefecture

In March 1997, a working delegation led by the Vice-chairman of Kagoshima Council visited Danang to promote cooperation and friendship, mainly cooperation in workforce training.

In July 1997, a working delegation of Danang City led by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long – Vice Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee had a working visit to Kagoshima to discuss cooperation in workforce training.

In October 1997, a delegation of directors of enterprises of Kagoshima visited Danang. The members of the delegation met and interviewed applicants to receive training in Kagoshima. The result was eight people were selected to be educated in Japan for one year.

In November 2001, a delegation of the People’s Council and Kagoshima province Association led by Mr. Honbo Teruo, Director of the Kagoshima Agriculture and Fishing Association visited Danang to study the socio-economic situation of Danang.

2.3. Dhizuoka City

In February, a delegation led by the Mayor of Dhizuoka City visited Danang to promote understanding between the two cities.

2.4. Oita Prefecture

In October 2000, a working delegation led by Mr. Huynh Nam, Vice-chairman of the Danang People’s Committee visited Oita to participate in a Regional Conference for Human Resource Training and Environmental Protection.
