* Status:

Danang is provided with electricity from the Hoa Binh hydroelectric plant through the North-South 500KV high voltage line to meet the local demand for consumption and production. Currently, because the old 35-220KV transformer grid is used, the electricity loss is considerable. Some communes in Hoa Vang district have no electricity or the voltage is not high enough for their production and daily activities. Currently, the city authorities are investing in expanding and renovating the grid transformer system.

* Development orientation:

By 2010, invest in installing the following stations:

- The city’s main power supply center. This is a 500/220KV - 450 MVA transformer station. Currently, in Danang, a 220/110 KV transformer station with two 220/110 KV - 125 MVA transformers have been currently used.

Some new transformer stations have been installed by 2010:

110KV stations:

- Lien Tri 110/22 KV - 25 MVA transformer station: by 2005, the second 110/22 KV-25MVA unit will have been installed

- Xuan Ha 110KV station: currently, there are 2 transformers: 110/35/22KV-40MVA and 110/22/6KV-40MVA.

- 110KV station of Ngu Hanh Son District (Bac My An Ward): there is a 110/35/22KV transformer which has been used since 1998. By 2005, another 110/22KV-25 MVA transformer will have been installed.

- Hoa Khanh 110KV station: the 110/22 KV - 25 MVA transformer has been used since 1999. By 2005, another 110/22 KV - 25 MVA transformer will be installed. By 2010, these two transformer stations will have been replaced with two 110/22 KV - 40 MVA ones.

- 110/22 KV - 25 MVA transformer station of Danang Industrial Zone: in 2005, another 110/22KV-25MVA transformer will have been installed to supply electricity to the industrial zone and Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts.

- Cau Do 110KV station: there is a 110/35/10KV station which supplies electricity to Danang and Quang Nam. In 2000, a 110/35/22 KV - 25 MVA was installed.

- 110 KV station of the Hai Van tunnel: in 2000, a transformer station with two 110/22 KV - 10 MVA machines was installed.

- Lien Chieu 110 KV station: it is planned to install a 110KV transformer station with one 110/22 KV - 25 MVA unit in 2003 and another 110/22KV-25MVA unit in 2010.

- 110 KV station of the Hai Van cement company: it is planned to install a 110KV with two 110/6 KV - 16 MVA units by 2005.

- 110/22 KV station of Hoa Khuong industrial zone: it is planned to install a 110/22KV transformer station of small scale with 2x25 MVA by 2010.

220KV Stations

- Danang 220 KV station: currently, there is a station with two 220/10/35 KV - 125 MVA units. By 2010, the two units will have been replaced with two 220/110/22 KV - 250 MVA ones.

- Hoa Khanh 220 KV station: in 2000, a station with one 220/110/22 KV - 125 MVA transformer was installed and a second one of 1x125 MVA will be installed by 2005.
