Tourists can get visas at Vietnamese Embassies worldwide or upon arrival in Danang.
Danang is the first international gateway in central Vietnam to offer visas on arrival for travellers who have booked hotel rooms and have enough required papers. Details of the travel should be sent to the hotel at least 24 hours before tourists’ arrival. Registration fee is approximately US$30 per person.
Customs Regulations
Entry:
- Visitors are permitted to bring with them the following items:
- Cigarettes: 400; Cigars: 50-100; Tobacco in fibre: 100 grams ; Liquỏ: 1.5 litres.
- Personal belongings and gifts of a reasonable quantity and a total value of US$300.
- The amount of cash is not limited, but if exceeding 3,000USD, visitors must declare to Customs.
Exit:
- For taking commercial goods and those of high value out of Vietnam, an export permit issued by Customs is required. Visitors are not permitted to take the following items out of Vietnam: antiques, gemstones and animals listed in Vietnam's red book.
Airport Tax
- For international flights: USD 12 at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat Airports and USD 8 at Da Nang Airport.
- For domestic flights: tax is included in the airfare.
Danang is a tourist city with relics, beautiful landscapes, interesting festivals and relaxation centers, especially on the most luxurious beaches. With an area of 1,255 km2, Danang looks like a huge ray swimming toward the immense ocean. Located in a typical tropical climate area with relatively stable high temperatures, Danang is an ideal place for long relaxation trips.
In Danang, visitors can stay at 4-5 star resorts well-equipped with modern facilities and support services or at three-star hotels in the city center. They can also stay in 1-2 star hotels or houses for rent at cheaper prices but enjoying comfortable facilities. (List of hotels). Visitors are not allowed to iron or cook in the room. Some hotels have sauna or massage services.
Every hotel has a restaurant and can provide the dishes you request. If you want to eat out, there are a lot of restaurants and food stalls to choose from. Some food stalls serve special local dishes. Some specialize in sea products, which are very fresh and reasonably priced. You can also choose stylish high-class restaurants.
Other restaurants will serve you at cheaper prices but they are a bit noisy. However, some of them have special rooms for customers to avoid the noise. All restaurants serve beer and beverages.
In Danang, there are lots of coffee shops with two styles: garden café and indoor café. The indoor coffee shops are equipped with air-conditioners. In addition, some coffee shops provide live music performances at night. You will be served with coffee and other beverages.
Office hours are from 7:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m and from 1:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m except on Saturday and Sunday. Restaurants, food stalls, coffee shops open untill 11 p.m, and bars closes at 12 p.m.
The Vietnamese currency is dong or VND. There are two kinds of cash: coins and paper money. Paper currency has the value of 200; 500; 1,000; 2,000; 5,000; 10,000; 20,000; 50,000; 100,000 and 500,000. Coins are 200; 500; 1,000 and 5,000. You can change money at airports or banks or at hotels. Payment by credit cards, including MasterCard, VisaCard is not very popular. There are ATMs at some banks, airports, supermarkets and hotels.
Danang is less expensive than Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Although the city authorities do not allow the two-price policy, most of the businesses charge foreigners at higher prices.
The electricity is 220V. Plugs are of two kinds: round or flat . You can buy adaptors at electrical shops.
Communications are very well developed. You can send letters and make domestic and international phonecalls and faximile at many post offices. The Internet is popular, mainly using ADSL technology. However, telephone and Internet charges at hotels are very high. You should use post offices or internet shops at approximately VND60 per minute.
Regarding souvenirs, you can buy Non Nuoc stone carving products at hotels or the Non Nuoc stone carving village. You can also buy paintings, cloth and handicrafts.
